নিরাপত্তার কারণে পাকিস্তানে নির্ধারিত সফর এবার চ‚ড়ান্ত হয়েছিল তিন ধাপে। প্রথম ধাপে গিয়ে লাহোরে তিন ম্যাচের টি-টোয়েন্টি খেলে বাংলাদেশ দল। এক ম্যাচ বৃষ্টিতে ভেসে যাওয়ায় তাতে হার ২-০ ব্যবধানে। পরে ৭ ফেরুয়ারি থেকে রাওয়ালপিন্ডিতে দুই টেস্টের প্রথমটি খেলে আসে বাংলাদেশ দল। সেই টেস্টেও ইনিংস ও ৪৪ রানে হারেন মুমিনুল হকের দল।
তৃতীয় দফার সফরে এই মাসের শেষে পাকিস্তান যাওয়ার কথা ছিল বাংলাদেশ দলের। করাচিতে খেলার কথা ছিল একটি ওয়ানডে ও একটি টেস্ট। এর আগে জানুয়ারি ও ফেব্রæয়ারিতে দুই দফার সফরে তিনটি টি-টোয়েন্টি ও একটি টেস্ট খেলে এসেছে বাংলাদেশ। স্থগিত হওয়া টেস্ট ম্যাচটি যেহেতু আইসিসি টেস্ট চ্যাম্পিয়নশিপের অংশ, শিগগিরই দুই দেশের বোর্ড আলোচনা করে নতুন তারিখ ঠিক করবে বলে জানিয়েছে স্বাগতিক পিসিবি।

করোনাভাইরাসে পাকিস্তানে ইতোমধ্যে বেশ কয়েকজন আক্রান্ত হয়েছেন। কেবলমাত্র সফরের একমাত্র ওয়ানডে ও শেষ টেস্টের ভেন্যু করাচিতেই ২০ জনের বেশি আক্রান্ত পাওয়া গেছে। শহরটির শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান বেশ কয়েকদিন থেকেই বন্ধ। তারই জেরে বাংলাদেশের সফর স্থগিতের পাশাপাশি ২৫ মার্চ থেকে শুরু হতে যাওয়া দেশটির ঘরোয়া একদিনের ম্যাচের টুর্নামেন্টও অনির্দিষ্টকালের জন্য স্থগিত করেছে পিসিবি। গত রোববার থেকে চলা বাংলাদেশের ঘরোয়া একদিনের ম্যাচের টুর্নামেন্ট ঢাকা প্রিমিয়ার লিগ চললেও সেটি থেমে গেছে গতকাল দেয়া ক্রীড়া মন্ত্রণালয়ের দেশের ক্রীড়াঙ্গণে দেয়া ৩১ মার্চ পর্যন্ত দেয়া নিষেধাজ্ঞায়।
