এক বছর পেছাল ইউরো।One year behind the Euro

প্রভাবে এক বছরের জন্য পিছিয়ে গেল ইউরো-২০২০। এ বছর জুন ১২ থেকে জুলাইয়ের ১২ পর্যন্ত ইউরোপের মোট ১২টি শহরে অনুষ্ঠিত হওয়ার কথা ছিল ইউরোপিয়ান ফুটবলের সবচেয়ে বড় আসর। করোনাভাইরাসের কবলে ইউরোপে একের পর এক ঘরোয়া লিগ স্থগিত হয়েছে। এ অবস্থায় লিগের বাকি অংশ শেষ করতেই পিছিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে ইউরোর আয়োজন। আগামী বছর ১১ জুন থেকে ১১ জুলাই পর্যন্ত একই ভেন্যুতে ইউরো আয়োজনের নতুন সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে।

আজ (মঙ্গলবার) ভিডিকরোনাভাইরাসেরও কনফারেন্সে সদস্য দেশগুলোর সঙ্গে জরুরী বৈঠকে বসেছিল উয়েফা। সেখানেই এই সিদ্ধান্তগুলো নেওয়া হয়েছে।গত সপ্তাহে কোপেনহেগেনে উয়েফার পক্ষ থেকে হোটেল বুকিং বাতিল করার পর থেকেই ধারণা করা হচ্ছিল এমন কিছু ঘটতে পারে। ইউরো পিছিয়ে যাওয়ার খবরটি সবার আগে নিশ্চিত করেছে নরওয়েজিয়ান এফএ। তাদের টুইটে বলা হয়েছে, ‘উয়েফার পক্ষ থেকে ইউরো পিছিয়ে দেওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে। আগামী বছরের ১১ জুন থেকে ১১ জুলাইয়ে হবে টুর্নামেন্ট।

In effect, the Euro-2020 was backed up for a year.  From June 12 to July 12 this year, the largest European football event was scheduled to take place in 12 European cities.  Coronavirus dominated the domestic league in Europe.  In this situation, the euro has been left behind to finish the rest of the league.  From June 1 to July 1 next year, a new decision has been made to organize the Euro at the same venue.

 The UEFA was meeting today (Tuesday) with the member countries at the Vidicronavirus conference.  That's where the decisions were made. Something that has been speculating since the hotel's cancellation of hotel bookings in Copenhagen last week.  The Norwegian FA has confirmed the news of the Euro withdrawal first.  Their tweet says, "UEFA has decided to back the euro.  The tournament will be held from June 1 to July 5 next year.
