ভারতের বিপক্ষে ওয়ানডে সিরিজ বাতিল হয়ে যাওয়ার পরে কলকাতা হয়ে দেশে ফিরে যাচ্ছেন দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকার ক্রিকেটাররা। আজ (সোমবার) দুপুরে কলকাতায় এসে একটা দিন কাটিয়ে তারা আগামীকাল (মঙ্গলবার_ সকালেই দেশে ফেরার বিমান ধরবেন কলকাতা বিমানবন্দর থেকে। এভাবেই তাঁদের ফেরার কথা ছিল সিরিজ খেলা হলে।
কারণ তৃতীয় তথা শেষ ওয়ানডে ছিল কলকাতাতেই। কিন্তু সিরিজ বাতিল হয়ে যাওয়ার পরে কুইন্টন ডি ককদের দেশে ফেরা নিয়ে রবিবার এক প্রস্ত নাটকই হয়ে গেল। ভারতীয় ক্রিকেট বোর্ড ঠিক করে, কলকাতা থেকে দেশে ফিরে যাবে দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকা টিম। যেহেতু তাদের বুকিং করাই ছিল কলকাতার আলিপুর চিড়িয়াখানার পাশে একটি পাঁচতারা হোটেলে, ঠিক হয় তাঁরা সেখানেই একটা দিন কাটিয়ে দেশের বিমান ধরবেন।
ইডেনে আন্তর্জাতিক ম্যাচ হলে ভারত এবং বিদেশি দল এই হোটেলেই থাকে। কিন্তু এদিন পশ্চিমবঙ্গ রাজ্য সরকারের তরফ থেকে অনিচ্ছা প্রকাশ করা হয়, চিড়িয়াখানার পাশে ওই হোটেলে দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকা দলের থাকা নিয়ে। শোনা যাচ্ছে, রাজ্যে করোনাভাইরাস নিয়ে চরম সতর্কতার জেরেই এই সিদ্ধান্ত। স্কুল কলেজ বন্ধ, খেলাধুলাও বন্ধ রাখা হচ্ছে। জনসমাবেশের অনুমতি দেওয়া হচ্ছে না। বিদেশিদের আসা-যাওয়ার উপরে নিষেধাজ্ঞা জারি করা হয়েছে।
এই অবস্থায় শহরের মাঝখানে ব্যস্ত জায়গায় বিদেশি ক্রিকেটারদের একটা দিন রাখার ঝুঁকি নেওয়া হবে না। পশ্চিমবঙ্গ রাজ্য সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে বলা হয়, ওরা তো আসছে দেশে ফেরার বিমান ধরতে। খেলা তো হচ্ছে না। তাহলে বিমানবন্দরের আশপাশে কোনও হোটেলে থেকে যাক না। রাজ্য সরকারের এই বার্তা পেয়ে বোর্ড তড়িঘড়ি হোটেল পাল্টানোর ব্যবস্থা করে। শেষ পর্যন্ত বিমানবন্দরের কাছাকাছি একটি হোটেলেই দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকার ক্রিকেটারদের থাকার ব্যবস্থা হয়েছে। সেখানে তারা একটা দিন কাটিয়েই মঙ্গলবার সকালে দেশের উড়ান ধরবেন। পশ্চিমবঙ্গ রাজ্য সরকার বা বিসিসিআইয়ের তরফে আনুষ্ঠানিক বিবৃতি কেউই দেয়নি।
