করোনাভাইরাস পরিস্থিতি বিবেচনায় অনির্দিষ্টকালের জন্য বন্ধ করে দেয়া হয়েছে দেশের সবধরনের ক্রিকেট। পরবর্তী ঘোষণা না দেয়া পর্যন্ত বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ডের স্বীকৃত কোনো টুর্নামেন্ট বা খেলা মাঠে গড়াবে না।
আজ (বৃহস্পতিবার) দুপুরে মিরপুরের শেরে বাংলা জাতীয় ক্রিকেট স্টেডিয়ামে এক সংবাদ সম্মেলনের মাধ্যমে এ খবর জানিয়েছেন বিসিবি সভাপতি নাজমুল হাসান পাপন।
যার ফলে স্থগিত হয়ে গেল মাত্রই শুরু হওয়া ঢাকা প্রিমিয়ার লিগ (ডিপিএল)। বিসিবি সভাপতির ভাষ্য অনুযায়ী, চলতি মাসে তো নয়ই, এপ্রিলের ১৫ তারিখের আগে আর প্রিমিয়ার লিগ মাঠে গড়ানোর সম্ভাবনা নেই।
বিসিবির সিদ্ধান্ত জানিয়ে করা সংবাদ সম্মেলনে পাপন বলেন, ‘আপনারা সবাই জানেন, করোনাভাইরাসের কারণে সারা পৃথিবীতেই যা হচ্ছে...বাংলাদেশেও এটা নিয়ে কাজ করা হচ্ছে। যে কারণে সব জায়গায়ই খেলাধুলা বন্ধ। আমাদের এখানেও বন্ধ হয়ে গিয়েছে।’
গত ১৫ এপ্রিল থেকে শুরু হয়েছে এবারের ঢাকা প্রিমিয়ার লিগ। প্রথম রাউন্ড খেলা হওয়ার পর ১৮ ও ১৯ তারিখের দ্বিতীয় রাউন্ড স্থগিত করেছিল বিসিবি। এ ব্যাপারে চূড়ান্ত সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়ার আগে সবদিক বিবেচনা করার জন্য দুইদিন সময় নেয়া হয়েছে জানিয়েছেন বিসিবি সভাপতি।
তিনি আরও বলেন, ‘বিশেষ করে প্রিমিয়ার লিগ প্রথম রাউন্ডের পরই আমরা বন্ধ করে দিয়েছিলাম। তখন আমরা সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছিলাম যে, দুইটা দিন অপেক্ষা করি, অবস্থা-পরিস্থিতিটা পর্যবেক্ষণ করে তারপর সিদ্ধান্ত নেই। তো, (দ্বিতীয় রাউন্ড স্থগিত করা) ঐটা একটা তাৎক্ষণিক সিদ্ধান্ত ছিলো। এখন আমরা সবদিক বিবেচনা করেই সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছি।’
